I've just had a tenant dissappear with £1000 housing benefit and desert the property just 2 months into her contract. It took 2 months for the HB to process and she's probably going to use it as a deposit for another tenancy whereas I wrongly thought she was a decent young mum needing some help. No doubt many ladlords are having similar problems. Landlords need to have housing benefit paid direct.
