Greenwich and Lewisham Nightstop is committed to challenging youth homelessness.
The project tackles homelessness in two ways; firstly by providing emergency accommodation for young homeless people in the homes of volunteers on a one-night-at-a-time basis; secondly by challenging homelessness proactively through an education and outreach programme. The web-site has a video with more information about their work.
This charity was recommended by Landlord Law member Jean Dalrymple who said :
“Nightstop is a charity which uses ordinary volunteers as hosts, who offer their own homes to provide emergency overnight B&B accommodation for homeless teenagers (ages 16-25). It’s a great way for a community to help it’s own people and it’s very satisfying to be helping a homeless young person – most of whom are very grateful that an unpaid stranger has chosen to help them out. All potential hosts are assessed, trained and CRB checked.”
