What has happened to the CLG web-site?

This post is more than 14 years old

January 4, 2011 by Tessa Shepperson

Department of Communities and Local GovernmentThe government department in charge of housing matters is the Communities and Local Government department and they have a web-site here.

In times past it was really informative, and had a lot of information, for example on HMOs, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and tenancy deposits.  However when I went there recently while researching a blog post on HMOs, all I could find was a page on the increase of the AST rent limit.

If you hunt around you can find the old pages in the National Archives but this does not give you a lot of confidence in their reliability, as they are clearly not being maintained and parts are probably out of date.

I suppose I should be pleased in a way as it might mean more people coming to Landlord Law, but that was a really useful source of information for all of us.

What do you think?

Wow, just had a look. Thats a worrying development, it was a great source of information.

So with LSc getting cut and sources of information being restricted, makes you wonder what is going on.

Lets hope the archive is just tidying up the site, you would expect a bit of announcement if that was the intention though

I’ve noticed it’s very difficult to find information, and don’t get me started about trying to order leaflets!

I suppose at least we have access to the primary legislaiton and statutory instruments via the Legislation UK site, but that is not very helpful for people who are unfamiliar with reading statute law.

All part of the cut backs I suppose. Maybe someone ought to do a freedom of information request to find out!
