Landlord Law Blog roundup from 5 March

This post is more than 14 years old

March 10, 2012 by Tessa Shepperson

Hi Everybody.  A very busy week here at Landlord Law Towers.

white daffsI have been doing a lot of work preparing for Tenancy Deposit week next week leading up the launch of Tom Derrets brilliant book on tenancy deposits.

I have also changed my repossession service so that there are now just two options  – do it yourself or pay for my ‘all in one’ service.  See more on this below.

But what happened on the blog?

Monday

Can we take over a protected tenancy on death of aunt

Its not often I get asked a protected tenancy succession question, as these tenancies are getting less and less.  Unfortunately I was not able to give Ian the answer he wanted.  See why here …

Tuesday

School for Landlords – EPCs

I finally got around to doing that video on energy performance certificates.  Take a look at it here …

Wednesday

Can frustration end a tenancy?

Frustration is a legal doctrine in contract law which will allow you to end a contract early.  But will it apply to Richard’s situation?  Find out here …

Do long term tenants have special rights?

People often worry about this one.  If you let your tenant stay more than three years does this mean you won’t be able to evict him for example?  See what I have to say about it here …

Thursday

Tenancy deposit adjudication workshop with TDS

I am invited to attend a workshop by TDS.  This post talks about the course and what I learned there.  Read all about it here …

Do you have questions about tenancy deposit adjudications?

I am going to be interviewing tenancy deposit expert Tom Derrett next week.  If you have any questions you would like him to answer, please use the form with this post.  Find it here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday newsround #49

Ben is feeling pleasantly surprised this week.  The tax man gave him a refund and someone thinks letting to housing benefit tenants is more lucrative than renting to working tenants.  See what else he had to say about things here …

A new Landlord Law ‘all in one’ repossession service

This is the new service I mentioned at the start of this post.  Read more about it here …
