Landlord Law Blog Roundup from 17 September

This post is more than 13 years old

September 22, 2012 by Tessa Shepperson

CoffeeA fairly quiet week here at Shepperson towers  – even quieter as my husband has lost his voice.  I am still unsure as to whether this is a good or a bad thing …

On the work front, I have been looking at the Adobe Captivate 6 software as an alternative to the Articulate Engage software I have been using up to now for my online courses.

I love articulate, but it uses flash so cannot be viewed on ipads – which sadly means I may not be able to use it, as more and more people are using their ipads for study.  So we need to find an alternative.

But what happened on the blog?

Monday

Housing law –  the bigger picture – longer fixed terms (3)

I come to a few conclusions and throw out a few suggestions on the tricky subject of long fixed terms.  See what you think of them here …

Tuesday

What is the validity of a subtenancy if the landlord is not allowed to sublet?

A blog clinic quesiton this one, from a tenant who asks whehter his tenancy is binding on him if his landlord is not the owner of the property.  See what I had to say about it here …

Wednesday

Five things to do if you have forgotten to protect the deposit in time

Many landlords are still unaware of the tenancy deposit legislation (or so they say) and will therefore find themselves in breach of the law after 30 days. What can they do?  Find out here …

Thursday

Housing law cases – the Judge is sometimes wrong

Looking at the case of Lappin and Surace where the first Judge was wrong.  Although one commenter thinks he may have been right.  See what you think here …

Rent to rent – what is the law?

I take a look at the phenomenum of rent to rent and comment on a few legal points.  Take a look here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday newsround #76

In-between being filmed walking away slowly, Ben takes a look at politicians offerings, some bad news for tenants, a house sale challenge and an HMO tenants story.  Read it all here …
