How to Evict Your Tenant

This post is more than 12 years old

May 3, 2013 by Tessa Shepperson

  • How to evict your tenantAre you a landlord?
  • Are you thinking of evicting your tenant?

If so you may be finding it all a bit confusing.

What with section 21 (section 21 of what you might ask), notices to quit, different types of procedure, and arcane rules about dates and notice periods.

How are you supposed to know what to do?

And if you get it wrong, its going to take you months to put it right again, during which time you could be losing thousands of pounds (if your tenant is not paying rent) and maybe being made to pay legal costs!

At last – a clear eviction guide

There is a lot of help in this blog of course, but for some time I have been thinking it would be nice if there was somewhere landlords could go and get a clear and simple explanation, on a question and answer basis.

Well I have finally done it

The How To Evict Your Tenant website is now online.

It starts off by asking you why you want to evict your tenant, and giving you three options to choose from:

  • Rent arrears
  • Antisocial behaviour, and
  • Other reasons

You are then lead through a few questions about your tenancy type (there is a pdf guide to help you if you don’t know) and whether you have protected the deposit or not, to a page setting out what your main options are.

Simple!

So now, if you are thinking of evicting your tenant and don’t really know what to do about it – visit howtoevictyourtenant.co.uk (or .com).
