Landlordlaw Blog Roundup from 20 October

This post is more than 10 years old

October 26, 2014 by Tessa Shepperson

David Smith talks about HMOsWe have been doing very well with our bookings for David’s workshop on HMO’s on 6th November – we only have a couple of places left!

The next workshop after that is mine in December on tenancy agreements.

We have two more coming up next year, including my workshop on Ending Tenancies which we are going to be putting on at Cambridge.

Its not on the website yet but I will get getting this done shortly.

We also have an event for Homelessness Prevention Officers in London in January with Ben which will work out more economic if you just have one or two people on the department you want to train up.

But what happened on the blog?

Monday

If your tenants leave owing you money – what can you do to get this back?

A common question from landlords and not an easy one to answer.  Here are some tips for you.  See them here …

Tuesday

Should tenants be responsible for the cost of replacing a shattered shower door?

And also – can glass shower doors shatter ‘spontaneously’?  And interesting question with differing views in the comments.  Read them here …

Wednesday

Kevin Firth of the DPS answers questions on tenancy deposit protection

A great interview with Kevin Firth which you can listen either on iTunes or on the blog here …

Thursday

Do you need to tell your landlord if you are going to have a baby?

Heidi is worried that her landlord will evict her if he finds out she is pregnant but we have some (reasonably) good news for her.  Read it here …

Can this landlord refuse to allow the tenants to end the tenancy early?

Sue needs to move to Asia for her work but her landlord does not want to release her from the tenancy.  What can she do?  Some suggestions here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday Newsround #176

Ben talks about playing hotel rouletlte, landlord stress, selling the cat for £76,000 (nice one!) and a shocking case from Southwark.  Read about them all here …
