Landlord Law Blog Roundup from 7 September

This post is more than 10 years old

September 12, 2015 by Tessa Shepperson

Jeremy_Corbyn,_Tolpuddle_2015Interesting times ahead with the election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader.

We were particularly pleased that he mentioned housing in his victory speech.

Housing is an important issue which deserves more attention and we hope that there will now be greater debate at a high level on the various options.

As many landlords have found with the recent budget tax proposals – the Tories do not always have their best interests at heart.

Mr Corbyn’s policies on housing may turn out to be more beneficial than many people think. After all there are serious issues here – poor housing helps nobody and cities like London need homes for its workers rather than investment opportunities for Asian businessmen.

But enough of this, what happened on the blog last week?

Monday

Can the landlord rely on his original prescribed information if the deposit has subsequently become unprotected?

An interesting blog clinic question.  Find out more about it here …

Tuesday

Well as soon as this post went up, the statutory instrument got held up in the Lords and may now not see the light of day.  But you could see what it would have said here …

Wednesday

Some friend!  Find out why here …

Thursday

Questions from a landlord being sued due to non service of the prescribed information

It’s really a question of evidence.  Find out why here …here …

Really? Corbyn a friend of decent “normal” tenants or of average landlords…….. please. Most people in society whether landlords and tenants are unlikely to “benefit” from the sort of crackpottery Corbyn represents.
