Landlord Law Blog roundup from 18 March

This post is more than 13 years old

March 23, 2013 by Tessa Shepperson

sick womanI have been afflicted with a rather nasty bug this week, which has gone to my throat and voice.  Worrying it seems to be getting worse not better – maybe I should stop working.

I suspect it has something to do with coming down after Conference but I wish it would go away.

I have been battling through the coughing however to set up a few new courses, which we will be announcing shortly.  So watch this space (or if you are really keen – make sure you are signed up to the mailing list)

But what happened on the blog?

Monday

Tenancy deposit confusion – what are the tenants rights?

One of those properties which are shared on what I call a ‘disorganised coming and going’ basis.  How does this affect the deposit rules?  See what I had to say here …

Property Tribes interview Tessa Shepperson at the Landlord Law Conference

What it says on the tin really.  It gave me a chance to thank everyone.  Take a look at it here …

Tuesday

Five top tips on record keeping for HMO landlords

The virus / bug was starting to make itself known on Tuesday so I pillaged David Smith’s notes to find something to write about.  They are important points however – read them here …

Property Tribes interview HMO Landlady

Another great interview from Property Tribes, this time Serena Thompson aka HMO Landlady.  Watch it here …

Wednesday

Tenant unable to move in – what are her rights?

She signed the tenancy agreement in good faith, but then was told there was an illegal occupant and could not move in.  See what my advice was here …

Thursday

How can I find out if my tenants have left or not?

The property is a top floor flat so the landlord cannot peer through the windows.  How can she find out if it is OK to go in and change the locks?  Some good comments from readers – see them here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday newsround #99

Ben reveals an interesting items in the Pope’s property portfolio and considers what might be in store for IDS.  Read that and more here …
