Landlord Law Blog Roundup from 10 June

This post is more than 12 years old

June 15, 2013 by Tessa Shepperson

umbrellaI just went out to get a loaf of bread, and got hailed on!  What sort of weather is THAT for June???

Leaving the weather to one side – did you like the quiz last week?  Quite a few people seem to have tried it out.

I am wondering whether maybe to provide a proper CPD service, maybe once a month based on the past months blog posts.

Would that interest you?

Just to give me a bit of a feel for whether people want it or not, can you quickly answer the poll below?  Thanks.

But what happened on the blog?

Monday

Can I be charged for boarding up the property due to tenants ASB?

This was an interesting one, and I learned something new!  Some great comments, read them here …

Tuesday

Regulations re furniture for rented properties

I did this post in response to a request from a reader who said lots of landlords appeared to be ignorant about the furniture regs.  The post seems to have been well received – read it here …

Wednesday

What does taking a rented property ‘as seen’ mean?

A blog clinic question from a letting agency worker, revealing what some may consider sharp practice.  What do you think?  Read it here …

Thursday

Can this landlord sell the tenants property which they left behind?

Another question about what to do about tenants property which they leave behind.  Read it here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday Newsround #110

Ben takes his mind off Frazzy’s absence by reading the London Assembly report on the private rented sector.  See what he has to say about it here …

Further reading

  • An interesting article on Credit Unions – which will (or should) become increasingly important for tenants on benefit
  • A ‘must read’ post on a new tenancy deposit case from Anthony Gold blog
  • I am asked to publish my article on 5 misunderstandings on licenses on Property Tribes, which elicits a lively discussion
  • An article by Ben in the Guardian on tenants being driven from the PRS in anticipation of the benefit cap
