Landlord Law Blog Roundup from 27 January

This post is more than 12 years old

February 1, 2014 by Tessa Shepperson

umbrella-250Pinch punch first of the month and all that.  February – cold winds, pancakes and two Easy Law Training talks from me – the first ins on Ending Tenancies in London on Thursday.

Still a few places available if you are interested by you’ll need to be quick – see here.

Looking forward to it.

Still – what happened on the blog?

Monday

Can I sue a co-tenant for the costs of eviction?

A blog clinic this one, looking at recovering legal costs.  Not a happy topic.  Find out why here …

Tuesday

Gas Safety Checks – help for landlords whose tenants won’t let them in

This is the opening up of the Beta Version of our Gas Access Kit – find out more here …

Wednesday

Tenants have moved out owing money – what are the landlords options?

Another blog clinic question.  This one is mostly about pursuing tenants for unpaid rent.  The general consensus is that it is mostly too much bother and its best to move on.  See why here …

Thursday

What tenancy is appropriate when the seller stays on as a tenant?

We had a bit of a discussion in the comments about whether this is illegal or not and I actually took the post down at one point.  Then Ben spoke to the FSA about it.  See what they said here …

Unlawful Eviction – does the punishment fit the crime?

A comment on a recent prosecution where a landlord who attempted to evict a mother and baby with two other blokes and a crowbar got fined under £2K.  It just didn’t seem right.  Take a look here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday Newsround #139

Individualism, armadillos and a floating monstrosity.  Yes you heard it all here first, here …
