Last week I published a check-list on right to rent checks. It proved very popular and at the time of writing there have been over 600 downloads.

So I have decided to do a few more.

This checklist, the eviction checklist, is for landlords who, for one reason or another, need to evict their tenant. Maybe the tenant is not paying rent, or is exhibiting anti-social behaviour, or maybe the landlord needs the property back for his own use.

The fact that the landlord ‘owns’ the property does not mean he can just get his property back for the asking. He has to follow the proper procedure.

However, it’s more complicated than that. Before you can even start the procedure, you need to make sure you have complied with the rules and that your paperwork is correct.

And before THAT, you need to know what the correct paperwork is in the first place for your kind of tenancy.

This little checklist  takes you through five things you need to think about before you do ANYTHING.

It’s quite a pretty checklist – if you like it, you might want to pin it on your notice board, as an ‘aide memoire’.
