I finally got around to reading my monthly issue of Legal Action Magazine today, to find that it is the 25th anniversary of the splendid ‘Recent Developments in Housing law’ series.
There is an anniversary article on page 8 by John Gallagher, principal solicitor at Shelter, which is fascinating. Describing how the young Nic Madge and Jan Luba` (love the photo!) persuaded the editors to allow them to do a quarterly housing law series, initially compiled in a wine bar in Kings Cross.
I can remember 1985 well, I was working in a small practice in Lambeth, where my own housing law experience started, doing a few Rent Act repossessions and quite a lot of mortgage repossession work.
I did not read LAG then, but I certainly do now (or the housing bits of it anyway), and am eternally grateful to it for alerting me to important developments and giving me something to put in the news section of my newsletter.
Here’s to the next 25 years.
