I am deep in the throes of writing up the notes for my Tenancy Agreement workshop which takes place on Thursday.
I had forgotten how much there was to say.
People just think of having ‘a tenancy agreement’ as if it were an extra table or something, but actually it is of crucial importance in your tenancy.
It sets out the rights of landlords (some of which they won’t have if they are not set down in the agreement correctly) and if you don’t word it properly, half of your clauses may be invalid under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999.
Its the unfair terms regs part of the course I am working on new. Not an easy bit of legislation and the OFTs guidance notes are not an easy document to follow either.
