
And so the Sarah Teather anti retaliatory bill is no more.
It failed, as described by one of the comments on my post here, because of parliamentary tactics rather than on its merits.
I think its a shame. I was unhappy with the way the bill was drafted but agreed with the principle. The bill also contained some other much needed amendments to s21 itself.
Hopefully now the issue has been raised, it will not drop into obscurity and something will in due course be done about it.
Because people being forced to live in sub standard accommodation, because they are afraid to enforce their legal rights, is wrong.
