Landlord Law Conference Wales 2015 – help for Welsh landlords facing major changes in the law

This post is more than 11 years old

November 24, 2014 by Tessa Shepperson

WalesIn September the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 received the royal assent.  This is due to bring in mandatory accreditation and licensing in Wales in 2015.

Still in the legislative pipeline is the Renting Homes Bill for Wales.  This is due to bring in changes in tenancy types.

These are major changes in the law which will affect everyone who rents out or manages rented property in Wales.

If you are a Welsh landlord or letting agent, you need to know about this.

Landlord Law Conference Wales

To help Welsh landlords and agents get a grip on these changes, we are putting on our first Welsh Conference on 15 May 2015 – which will have some pretty eminent speakers.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Martin Partington QC CBE – the Law Commissioner in charge of the original project which inspired the Welsh legislation
  • David Smith, partner at Anthony Gold solicitors, who will be explaining the law
  • Anne Rowland of the Welsh Government who will be explaining how the new laws will be implemented
  • David Cox – MD of ARLA who will be discussing the new laws from the point of view of letting agents
  • Douglas Haig – Vice Chairman of the RLA, who will be discussing the new laws from the point of view of landlords
  • Professor David Cowan – the Bristol academic who has been advising the Welsh Government on the Renting Homes Bill, who will bring us up to date with developments

There will also be talks on section 21, the Welsh Residential Property Tribunal, and a talk on deposit adjudication’s from Mike Morgan of our lead sponsors TDS.  If you need CPD this will get you 5 hours.

TDSExhibitors

It is not known yet who will be managing the new licensing rules on behalf of the Welsh Government.  However whoever they are, we will be arranging for them to have a table in the Exhibitors room so you can ask them questions.

Other confirmed exhibitors include our lead sponsors TDS, Envirovent, The Property Redress Scheme, ARLA and the RLA.

Angel Hotel CardiffPractical details

The Conference will be taking place at the prestigious Angel Hotel in the heart of Cardiff on 15 May 2015.

Registration will be from 9.00 am for a 9.30 start and the Conference will end at 5.00 pm.  There will be two generous comfort breaks and a buffet lunch which is included in the price.

If you are not able to get there and back in a day, we have arranged special delegates rates at the Angel Hotel of £80 for a single and £90 for a double room per night including breakfast.

The Conference itself will cost £180 (incl. VAT) with discounts for existing customers and bulk bookings.
