Landlord Law Blog Roundup from 25 July

This post is more than 9 years old

July 31, 2016 by Tessa Shepperson

morning coffeeI have been spending quite a lot of time this week watching history documentaries on You Tube.  There are some fascinating programs from David Starkey on the Tudors and a complete history of Kings and Queens of England from Alan Ereira (if you are interested, do a search and you should find them).

I have also been developing my new kit and planning out some video promotions with Patrick so its been quite a busy week.

But what happened on the blog?

Monday

Serving Penal Notices on Tenants who don’t move out

This is something that was raised by someone at our recent Ending Tenancies workshop.  It is completely illegal though and if you do it you could be sued for harassment.  Find out what was going on here …

Tuesday

If tenants have not been seen or paid any rent for four months what can the landlord do?

A blog clinic question, essentially about abandonment and when you can change the locks.  See what my view was for this situation here …

Wednesday

A landlord threatens to withhold the deposit – what can be done?

A fast track blog clinic question this one which actually turned out to be a lodger situation.  See what my advice was here …

Thursday

Housing survey shows that things are slowly getting better in the PRS

I take a look at the English Housing Survey for the Private Rented Sector report.  See what it said here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday Newsround #260

Ben remembers a conversation with Freddie Mercury and then takes a look at housing for the super rich.  See what he found here …
