Comments Policy & Terms of Use

Comments Policy & Terms of Use

Tessa SheppersonThis blog encourages comments, and if you have thoughts or questions about any of the posts here, I hope you will add your comments.

First – please note the following, which is a condition of posting a comment on this blog:

UNACCEPTABLE USE – You agree that you will not post any material which is illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, infringing of intellectual property rights, confidential, invasive of privacy or otherwise injurious or objectionable.  if you do, you agree that you’ll indemnify me fully against all losses, damages and costs (including legal costs) I may suffer as a result of your breaching this term.

 Moderation of Comments

In order to prevent spam and inappropriate content, all comments are moderated by me. These are the rules I use when deciding whether to delete a comment or not.

  1. Any comments which are not relevant to the main post, or to one of the earlier comments on the same post, will be deleted.
  2. A link to your own blog or web-site is fine provided it is in context or is given as part of a genuine comment, for example by way of identifying the author. Blatant advertising however will be deleted.
  3. The post comments is not the place to ask questions about your own problems.   We have a special blog clinic for that.  Any comments asking for help with your personal problems will therefore be deleted
  4. I will also delete any comments which I consider will or might be offensive to readers, or which could contravene any libel or other relevant legislation.  In any event, swear words will in most cases be deleted, even if I decide to publish the post (which I may not if it contains swearing).
  5. Offensive and/or personal comments about other people commenting on a post will be deleted – if people are kind enough to comment on a Landlord Law Blog post this should not lay them open to this sort of thing.  Genuine disagreements are different
  6. And very long comments may not be published, as the comments section is not the place for long essays and articles, but for discussion about the post.
  7. Note that I may sometimes re-format or edit comments slightly.  For example if there is an obvious error or misspelling.

However, please don’t let all this put you off.  I know that most of you are genuine people, not trolls, spammers or marketeers.  If you have something to say about one of the posts, a comment on the law, a question about the subject matter of the post (other than a request for help for your personal problems), or indeed a comment on one of the previous comments, I would love to hear from you.

Note that comments will close after 91 days / three months (which means that the comments box will disappear and you will not be able to submit one). However if you want to say something about one of my older posts, you will usually be able to find a more recent post on the same subject.

PS If you would like a little picture of yourself to appear beside your comments, instead of the Landlord Law Blog house logo, then hop on over to www.gravatar.com where you need to register and and upload a picture. You then have a ‘globally recognised avatar’ which will show up on lots of blogs, not just ours, so it is worth doing.

Disclaimer

The purpose of this blog is to provide information, comment and discussion.

Please, when reading, always check the date of the post. Be careful about reading older posts as the law may have changed since they were written.

Note that although we may, from time to time, give helpful comments to readers’ questions, these can only be based on the information given by the reader in his or her comment, which may not contain all material facts.

Any comments or suggestions provided by Tessa or any guest bloggers should not, therefore be relied upon as a substitute for legal advice from a qualified lawyer regarding any actual legal issue or dispute.

Nothing on this website should be construed as legal advice or perceived as creating a lawyer-client relationship (apart from the Fast Track block clinic service – so far as the questioners only are concerned).

Please also note that any opinion expressed by a guest blogger is his or hers alone, and does not necessarily reflect the views of Tessa Shepperson, or the other writers on this blog.

Note that we do not accept any unsolicited guest blogs, so please do not ask. Neither do we accept advertising or paid links.
