Landlord Law Blog weekly roundup from 27 November

This post is more than 14 years old

December 3, 2011 by Tessa Shepperson

trainingLast week I travelled down to London to take part in the annual Professional Conferences conference on Residential Landlord and Tenant law.  It was a good day, apart from having to get up at 5.00 to get my train.  I like to leave a lot of time and it was the day after the strike so I was taking no chances.

So “Hi!” to anyone who was there, reading this and I hope I was not too boring.  I was waxing lyrical (in case anyone is interested) on the subject of plain English in legal documents.  A subject close to my heart.

But enough of that – what happened on the blog?

Monday

New landlord of protected tenancy wants to sell

Starting the week with a blog clinic question (we have had quite a few in recently, I am struggling to keep up).  This time a landlord wanting to sell his newly acquired property with sitting tenant.  See what we thought about it here …

Tuesday

School for landlords – increasing rent (1)

VERY exciting – the first School for Landlords video, introducing the increasing rent module.  Haven’t had a lot of actual feedback to it, but lots of people are signing up for the mailing list and upgrading their Landlord Law membership to +Plus level.  See what you think of it here …

Can the landlord insist on changing the locks mid term?

Poor old Ron has lost his keys and the landlords want to charge him for changing the locks.  Can they do this?  What do you think?  See what we thought here …

Wednesday

Accelerated possession proceedings defences #8

This one is on serving the section 21 notice too soon – which could invalidate it.  Find out why here …

Can the landlord increase the rent mid term?

What is it with landlords?  This one now wants to increase the rent.  He can’t do that can he?  Find out what we thought here …

Thursday

Calling all landlords of posh properties in Wales

Did you know that the high rent limit for AST’s went up on 1 December?  Yes indeedy.  Find out more about it here …

Friday

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday Newsround #36

Ben is calling a spade a shovel (no change there then) and feeling sorry for landlords.  Come again?  Sorry for Landlords? Find out why here …
