A New Look for Landlord Law Blog for 2016

This post is more than 10 years old

January 1, 2016 by Tessa Shepperson

The Landlord Law Blog 2016If you have been here before you will probably notice that the site is looking a bit different.  Quite a bit different.

For years, ever since 2009, we have been using the Headway Theme on the blog.  Although Headway is great, I decided that it was time for a bit of a change.

So we are now using one of the Studio Press Genesis child themes (Metro Pro).

I have also taken the opportunity to make a few other changes and tidy things up a bit.

The blog theme has two navigation bars, so the original links are at the top and I have used the second one to show some of the different blog categories.  Which may be useful if you are looking for something in particular.

This blog has come a long way since it started in February 2006 – nearly 10 years ago.  You can still see the archive of the original site on blogger here.  You can see the first post I did on the new 2009 blog here.

The traffic has gone up dramatically since then.  In 2009 I was lucky if I got 50 visitors a day.  Now we usually get well over 3,000 and some days we get over 4,000 unique visitors.  It just shows what you can do by sticking with it over 6 years and publishing a post a day (well, most days).

I hope you like the new Landlord Law Blog look – let me know what you think and if you have any ideas for further improvements, in the comments area below.

@Rent Rebel has commented on twitter that the share bar on the left obscures the text on his laptop. https://twitter.com/rentrebel/status/682728091433582593

Does anyone else have this problem?

And it’s thoroughly annoying. Bad web design makes me cringe.

Well no-one else has complained about it.

It is the ‘Sumo Me’ plugin for social shares and there are a number of different positions the share bar can go.

I like the one on the left best but I have moved it over for the time being to the right. What do people think about this? I can also move it onto the post itself but then it will not stay on the page when you scroll up and down.

If you look at the screen shot on this post, you will see where the share bar on the right appears on my screen – which does not obscure any of the text.

New design looks nice. Having the share bar on the right works for me.

    Happy new year everyone!
