Congratulations to the Property Redress Scheme on first year of trading

This post is more than 10 years old

July 21, 2015 by Tessa Shepperson

The Property Redress SchemeAs a Council Member of the Property Redress Scheme I delighted to publish on this blog their first report – which is an interim report on their first year of trading, from summer 2014.

As you are no doubt aware, the PRS is one of three consumer redress schemes authorised by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and National Trading Standards whose role it is to provide fair and reasonable resolutions to disputes between members of the public and property agents and professionals.

The PRS was set up specifically to cater for the smaller agencies and property mangers who are less likley to want to join one of the larger organisations, and there are lower fees and less paperwork involved.

As set out in the report, the PRS now have  over 3,800 Member offices which is a  fantastic response.  The report has further membership statistics along with details of the compalints process and an overview of the complaints process.

You can download and read it >> here.

Yes congratulations. I just hope for any PRS members that PRS dispute adjudications are more skilled, professional and sensible than the TPO is.

However in their last report the TPO claimed 13000 member offices out of a national total of 15,000 so if PRS has 3800 someone needs to meet and discuss – otherwise the third scheme has a negative number of members!!

Over 3000 members! That is great. Such a good response, I wish we had less paperwork and lower fees in Northern Ireland. Steve from SPR Properties
