Landlord Law Blog Roundup from 21 March

This post is more than 9 years old

April 2, 2016 by Tessa Shepperson

DaffaodilsBen and I took a bit of a break from the blog over Easter.

Ben did a bit of house hunting (more of this next week) and I (abandoned by my husband and son for the week) tested out my new Landlord Law shopping cart service and watched my Pie in the Sky boxed set. I do like Pie in the Sky.

I missed the family though more than I thought I would but they are back now. Peace is at an end.

So with two weeks posts to catch up on rather than one, we have a lot to do.  Let’s start.

Monday 21st

Do HMO landlords need to provide an EPC for room rentals?

I go through the legislation here in an attempt to find a conclusive answer but it is unclear.  There is also a divergence of opinion in the comments.  Take a look and post your own comment here …

Tuesday 22nd

Can this landlord and single Mum speed up the eviction against her DSS tenant?

As usual the answer is ‘no’.  Find out why here …

Report on the webinar with John King of TDS

I forgot to press the record button which was a bit stupid of me.  So no recording, but its quite a funny post.  Read it here …

Wednesday 23rd

How much does it cost to evict a tenant?

Predictably this has been a popular post!  Hopefully it won’t go out of date too soon.  Read it here …

Thursday 24th

Grounds for Eviction: Ground 8 – the mandatory rent arrears ground

This is, of course, the Big One.  The most used ground.  See what we have to say about it here …

Tuesday 29th

Sheriff problem sorted – but the real problem remains

This is the scandal of the naughty sheriffs using the wrong forms to get tenants out quicker.  They won’t be able to do it again now, but there is another problem.  Find out more here …

Wednesday 30th

What are the landlord’s options where a tenant stays on after giving notice that they were leaving?

A blog clinic question.  Time to roll out the Distress for Rent Act again.  See why here …

An interview with John Stewart of the Residential Landlords Association

I made a right pigs ear of this one but at least I remembered to click the record button.  Go and listen to it here …

Thursday 31st

Grounds for Eviction: Ground 9 – Suitable Alternative Accommodation

The first of the discretionary grounds and a chance for me to remember one of my more successful cases.  Read about it here …

Friday 1st April

Ben Reeve Lewis Friday Newsround #246

No April fools (that I am aware of) but we seem to have lost #245 somewhere along the way.  Take a look at #246 here …
